International Women's Day 2023 campaign theme: #EmbraceEquity

For International Women's Day and beyond, let's all fully #EmbraceEquity.

Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have.

A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA.

And it's critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.

The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.

Second to the business mind of my Mother [Alhaja Sidikatu Abisogun #OBE]; I'm shining a very positive and warm light on Ms NessaA Primus of Primus Consulting Services CIC

Nothing good comes easy; that’s what they say and in many ways its completely true.

2018 was the toughest year of my life but during that year I realised that I had to grow, not in size but in strength, stamina and discipline. That my own opportunities seemed to be fast evaporating, translated into a blessing in disguise – and once I had begun to see the wood for the trees, I never looked back. Part of my assurance was due to my familiarity of the terrain called ‘being in business’. I still empathise with those who are

relatively new to the game and I want to use this opportunity to shine a light on my most recent team member.

Writing this in a personal capacity it warranted as I remember the first time is spoke with NessaA and she asked some very pertinent questions about ‘my why’. I found myself in deep relfection and consideration of the things that I had done and not yet embarked upon. Little did I know, NessaA was embarking on something of a similar exercise and ultimately she too was seeking a new challenge to further define / redefine her comfort zone.

Fast forward a few years and on 25.05.22 [last year] and the deed was done; her role at DWP was no more and NessaA was embarking upon a journey that she had no idea would pan out. Well, her work spoke and continues to speak for itself and I decided to offer some stability in her bid to find herself and her feet.

Since May last year NessaA has been working tirelessly from a position of nothing to promote her well documented track record as an Engagement and Young People Specialist; her sole to become an accredited and trusted provider to the third and private sector.

The #IWD2023 is totally befitting to what I have observed in the period May 2022 to date [March 2023] and whilst I always knew it wash hard for Black men, it is even harder for Black women who happen to have children. Despite the daily grind on the home front and a plethora of rather challenging ‘personal’ curve balls, I have watched this young Queen go from strength to strength.

#EmbraceEquity is totally befitting to this young lady, with whom I have no doubt, will go onto achieve amazing outcomes for herself and society. Called the DTSA Programme; co-curated over a period of fifty-one (51) months – God willing we launch in a few weeks with our delivery partner Mark Williams / Susie Forbes [PA] at the multi-award winning, national UK treasure called TwinnedIt.

Go NessaA, we [at DiverseCity Surveyors] are right beside you.
