The first meeting of 2019 for the DCS Board, was convened during the afternoon, at the East London offices of ISG Plc. An extended invitation was made to Diane Dumashie of RICS Governing Council whose presence and positive impact was noted. In actual fact, the degree to which 'thought leadership' was effected, caused all manner of provocation for the DCS Board, which culminated into a general consensus to refine the DCS offer with a greater emphasis on the business-to-business potential for DCS members. Clearly, DiverseCity Surveyors should be more about 'peer-to-peer' learning, fee / income generation and developing better and more meaningful links with all sectors of the industry.
To this end, a concerted effort would also be made by the DCS Board to collaborate with other firms who are keen to lead on and contribute towards various initiatives where DCS professionals, their clients and other colleagues in allied and peripheral professions can also promote the social element of what we do and elevate 'the experience of DCS membership' to another level of excitement and sophistication during 2019 and beyond.
There is also a firm intention to launch a new 'tech-platform' to facilitate greater and more seamless communications amongst existing and future DCS members. We look forward to making future announcements in this regard.
Earlier on the same day, the London Regional Board 'LRB' met at RICS HQ, London to conduct their first meeting of 2019, which was attended by DCS Founder & Chair Bola Abisogun OBE FRICS.
The overall emphasis for the LRB appeared to be a huge aspiration for the profession to engage better with schools, colleges and universities across the country. The appetite for this 'untapped' connectivity across London has never been greater and with BREXIT literally on our doorstep, the need to develop a more inclusive talent pool has reached fever pitch.
For any DCS members that wish to participate and give back to the next generation by participating in the RICS' 'Education Engagement Initiative' please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
